Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Vice President for Patient Care Services, the candidate will assume twenty-four hour accountability and responsibility for the management of patient care, human and material resources for two units. As a member of nursing management, participates in the development of hospital and departmental goals, objectives and standards. Provides leadership for the development and achievement of hospital and unit goals and objectives. Is responsible for implementing and supporting hospital and department philosophy and goals at the hospital and unit level.
Qualifications
Candidate must have a current CT License.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
MUST HAVE: Masters Degree in Nursing or MBA.
MUST HAVE: Recent (within 1 year) management experience on an INPATIENT ACUTE CARE UNIT.
Unit Description
Hospital is seeking a Director for two med/surg Units. The first med/surg unit was a med/surg ortho that is being changed to strictly med/surg. It is 35 beds with a varied patient population. The unit also posesses telemetry capabilities.
The second is an Adult/Pedi Med/Surg unit. It is 22 Beds and primarily an Adult GYN popluation. The Pedi population generally rises during the winter.
Additional Information
The Adult/Pedi Med/Surg unit essentially runs itself. It is currently managed by a nurse who has been with the hospital for 10 years and it is a very popular unit which means that turnover is minimal and it is never understaffed.
Candidate will be dealing with top level management. The VP is very flexible and a dream to work for, per HR. She is one who expects management to work hard but is a big believer in having a balance between work and life. Managers at the facility are not working 80 hours per week!
The peer group is very cohesive and there is no backstabbing. It is a fun, bright and intelligent group to work with.
Will be working with a budget that is flexible. While everyone is generally careful with their budget, it is not ridgid and there is movement when things need to be done.
PHYSICAL THERAPIST (OUTPATIENT ORTHOPEDIC)

Will be handling primarily neck and back surgery cases and will be working with all ages.
